Formed in coarse marl clay with a characteristic red brown surface, the vessel displays a piriform body that tapers cleanly to a pointed base, designed either for insertion into soft ground or for use with a supporting stand, as seen here. The straight edged circular mouth suggests practical use rather than ceremonial intent. These vessels were
