Stirrup Cup - Badger (Partial Gilt) Tableware Made with a solid woodA popular practice in the late 18th and 19th centuries was to present antique silver stirrup cups, a form of drinking vessels that were presented to riders on horseback, before leaving or arriving home from hunting. They drank from these vessels whilst their feet remained in the stirrups. The Badger Stirrup Cup is designed to replicate the badger head; the fur thoroughly incised to accentuate the design. The cup's interior is gilded with 24K gold.
